Cairns members meet monthly for informal sessions to talk about books - their own or others' - and share tips and hints on the age-old question of how to get books published.

For lovers of war stories and maritime history, Chris Shaw's new book is a treat. "HMS Warspite: My Memories of World War II" was written by Chris's father, Wally Shaw. The Book Expo 2011, organised by Book Creators Circle, was held in Cairns on 24 September 2011. It was a highly successful day, with 250 guests visiting to browse, buy books and talk with like-minded people.
Wordfix Editor, Gloria Webb, spent some time chatting with one of her authors, Chris Shaw. Chris was showing Gloria the latest edition of his new book. They both look very pleased with the result!

In January 2011, Amazon announced that for the first time, the sale of their Kindle e-books exceeded the sale of their paperback books. For the three months to December 2010, Amazon sold 115 Kindle books for every 100 paperback books sold.
The company also announced that the Kindle e-reader is their biggest selling product and that it is outselling the previous bestseller, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows".
